UN-MoFA Primary and Secondary school students from all over Laos are invited to enter their paintings for Laos on Canvas – Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the Arts drawing competition, to be launched on Monday April 21th until Friday May 30th 2014.
The contest, organized as a joint initiative of the United Nations in Lao PDR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to focus attention towards the key development issues in Lao PDR especially the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) such as poverty, Education, Gender Equality, Child Health, maternal mortality, health, environment, Global Partnership and unexploded ordnance (UXO). Students are invited to reflect on some of the causes, solutions and achievements made in various areas of development through paintings.
Students can submit their drawing masterpieces to one of the two categories available in the contest for a chance to win one of the attractive prizes. The categories include “Primary School Level”, which open for “Students studying in the Primary school Por 1 to Por 5”, as well as “ Secondary School Level” , open to those who studying Mor 1 to Mor 7.
The winner of the competition will be chosen by a panel of judges. The winner for both categories will be given 2000,000 Kip cash. The 2nd Prize will be awarded 1200,000 Kip and the 3rd Prize will be given 800,000 kip. The school which the students representing will also be awarded cash to be used as fund for implementing the activities within schools.
Entry is free and after choosing a category, contestants can submit up to two drawings each. Only Lao nationals are eligible to enter the competition, Drawing must have been drawn by the entries and the drawing should be drawn on white A4 size Paper, and the drawings must relate to one of the nine Millennium Development Goals.
